Chalkdene Developments breaks ground for new development on old recreation site in London Colney
Chalkdene Developments marked the start of a new residential development on the former London Colney Recreation Centre with a ground-breaking ceremony with Hertfordshire County Council.
Chalkdene Developments, a joint venture partnership between Lovell Partnerships and HLL, is behind the exciting new development, which will deliver 45 new homes on Perham Way. The site, purchased from Hertfordshire County Council, will see Lovell Partnerships build the new development and Hightown Housing Association purchasing the affordable homes including two wheelchair accessible apartments.
The new development, named The Carriage Quarter, will include a mix of 27 apartments and 18 houses. All the houses will benefit from private gardens, and off-street parking or garages. Apartments will come with allocated parking and shared amenity space for each block and cycle bays will be available.
The Carriage Quarter has been specifically designed to complement the surrounding area. The new houses and apartments have large windows to provide well-lit, comfortable, and contemporary living spaces.
Bob Deering, Executive Member for Resources at Hertfordshire County Council, commented: “It’s lovely to finally see the build underway on this site which will bring a variety of high-quality homes to London Colney. This housing will continue to support the County Council’s Good Growth agenda.”
Justine Fancy, Programme Director at Chalkdene Developments, said: “This is our fourth development in Hertfordshire as part of our joint venture between Lovell and HLL. We are looking forward to seeing the site transform over the coming months and provide more lovely homes.”
